Drop a Student from a Course

Drop a Student from a Course

(1) Find the Course record

You can reach your record many different ways. The image below shows a search - make sure to choose the Course (not the Session).

(2) Click the “Enrolled Students” tab on the Course page.

This will give you a list of all students enrolled, waitlisted, and dropped from this course.

(3) Find the student to drop from the course. Click on the Course Enrollment Name for this student.

(4) Edit the record. Change Enrollment Status to “Dropped Out”

Please note that your Salesforce systems administrator may have changed the picklist options so that they are different from the ones shown here. If that is the case, choose whatever value indicates, for your organization, that the student will not be returning to class.

If you save without any further changes, the student will be removed from the attendance tracking for all sessions from this point forward. The student’s attendance records will not be deleted - instead, their Attendance Status field will be updated to “Dropped / Not Returning” to remove them from the take attendance page while allowing for robust reporting.

(4a) If the is not leaving immediately, choose a “Drop as of Session”

If you have been notified that the student will be dropping in the future (or that the student dropped out beginning with a prior session), use the Drop as of Session field to choose which session was the first one they should be dropped from.

Do not enter Drop as of Date — this is set automatically and supports some types of reporting.

(5) Save the record

When you save, all relevant attendance records for this student will have their status set to “Dropped/Not Returning” (or whatever value your Salesforce systems administrator has set for your organization). You can confirm the drop by clicking “View All” under “Attendance Records” in the right-hand side of the screen, and scrolling through the list to confirm that the student has been dropped for all expected sessions.

Look for “View All” in the “Attendance Records list on the right-hand side of the screen.
